Valerie Brennan was born in 1973, Limerick, Ireland. She is currently based in Madrid. Her small uniform paintings belie their size. The lush surfaces gel and ooze painting dialogue first and foremost. One suspects the titles of the works, in a similar manner to Howard Hodgkin, stem from a reflected memory during the working process. A gentle nod to the problems and foibles of day to day living for us all.

Brennan studied at the Cypress College of Art, The Limerick School of Art and Design and the Erasmus exchange in Pontevedra, Spain. She is establishing an international career being represented by Giampietro Gallery, New Haven, USA, Atti Gallery, Toronto, Canada, Apocalypse Gallery, Nicosia, Cyprus. She is also the author of Studio Critical, a blog on contemporary painting and artist's processes.
